I will probably show pictures of my new place at some point, but not yet, because I STILL don't have any furniture aside from my computer desk/chair (which might become a kitchen table when the furniture does come, I'll have to see) and my bed. The rest of it should be coming next weekend, and then the weekend after that. But other than that everything is going really well. It's so exciting to be here and to have it be mine (well, renting, but still here on my own). Before this, I've only lived at home, in dorms, or in a shared basement (with strangers). I've never had this much space that was mine, all mine!
And so that's been strange to get used to. Up until now, my decorating strategy has always been 1) how much stuff can I cram in here? and 2) where does it fit? But since I've gone from essentially a bedroom to a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and hallway (with closets!) space, while still a precious commodity, gives me a lot more options.
I've found I have actual opinions on stuff! I was going to hang up some pictures in the hallway outside my bedroom but then I realized "No - I want to have a photo collage here." So I picked up one of those multi-picture frames and I'm so happy with it. I've always wanted one of those and now I have it (and I really wanted one of those super old-school ones with the different shapes but I had to settle for something classy looking). The same thing happened with stuff I hung up in my room - a mirror, my diploma - I cared about where they went! I might even want to get a big green plant because I think one would look really great in my living room - and I've never wanted a plant before! I'm baking muffins right now - muffins! I don't think I've EVER really baked something since I've been back at home, and now I'm baking muffins!
It's just all so exciting. And when I get my furniture...whoa.
When I was making my muffins I thought of this:
Better Than a Golden Globe or an Oscar!

I love Donald Duck!
It's great that you are decorating your place and are excited about it! I can't wait to see it.
I really hope your muffins turned out better than my second cherry cheesecake because that turned out to be an epic failure. Still, isn't it just a wonderful and adult thing to be baking in your own kitchen? I love it.
I sure hope making your muffins was less calamitous than Donald making his waffles?!
Decorating and positioning furniture etc is so much fun. Well, I say fun - I'm usually far too lazy to finish it off. I'm so glad you've got your own place. I can't wait to see the pictures. Will there be before and after ones?
This is awesome - you're totally going through the same sort of process I did when I moved into Sparky Towers (although I've still not bothered hanging any pictures up, and I don't bake - but I do really want a big green plant!).
Can't wait to see pics!!
